Description

Story-telling

Storytelling is a very effective method of tarbiyah. The Qur' an includes many stories that are used as means and ways of tarbiyah for Muslims. Amongst these stories is that of the Prophets. In them, Allah describes different incidents and events that prophets have experienced throughout their lives. Examples of such stories include the stories of Prophet Ibrahim, Prophet Musa, and Prophet Isa.

Children are born into a media-soaked environment today. They have numerous television channels and entertainment programs to get them engaged with entertainment. Parents switch on cartoon channels and keep children before them for hours. But, many a times they forget the disadvantages, such fast-paced visual media bring onto kids. Television cartoons and other entertainment programs block the mental development of kids to greater extends.

Shadow Puppetry

Shadow play or also known as shadow puppetry is an ancient form of storytelling and entertainment which uses flat articulated figures to create cut-out figures which are held between a source of light and a translucent screen or scrim. Shadow play is popular in various cultures; currently there are more than 20 countries known to have shadow show troupes. Shadow play is an old tradition and it has a long history in Southeast Asia. It is a popular form of entertainment for both children and adults in many countries around the world.
